Women and Girls Skate Session at Flo Skatepark, 30th September

To give the fast growing female skate scene in Nottingham another boost, Skate Nottingham homegirls (and two of the coaches who delivered the ParkLives sessions in July) Claire Dunn and Charleigh Evison have got together with Flo Skatepark (Poulton Drive, Nottingham) to organise a skate night/afternoon from 4pm until 7pm, on Saturday 30th of September – where women and girls get in free.  Please come down and support – there’s a bit of controversy about ‘girls only’ sessions – but we 100% back them: because female skaters are in a minority, these sessions provide opportunities for women and girls to skate together, at all ability levels, and have been used by proactive skate scenes like Malmo to significantly increase the number of female skaters.  Hopefully one day we won’t need ‘girls only’ sessions, as there will be a good mix of both women and dudes out skating the park and street every day – but until that day, this stuff is super important – as Danni from Girl Skate UK says, its basically men only sessions at skateparks every night, so it’d be good to change that.  Amazing gnarly mermaid flyer by Claire Dunn.
