Over the summer, one of Skate Nottingham’s original founders had the amazing idea to keep King Edward Park well used through August and early September by way of an Instagram competition. The idea behind #KingEddiesLap was that skaters filmed a continuous line at the park and uploaded it to insta – tagging the comp and us (@skatenottingham), and we’d repost their entry – with the best entries winning prizes donated by Forty Two and by us, funded by an NTU Enabling Innovation Small Grant.
We had over 30 entries in the end. Filming quality didn’t matter – entries were judged entirely on the tricks, the skaters’ style and creativity. There were 3 prize winners in the over-16s and 2 in the under-16 category – with Greg Hollingsworth powering through to take the top prize with two eye-watering laps of the park; and Lewis Blower bagged the top prize for the under-16s with an incredible range of tricks and solid style. Other prize winners were Marnix, Myke Trowbridge and Finn Stevenson. Watch highlights of everyone’s entry above – all entries on our insta, and prize winner’s linked from their names in this here text.
