With the ParkLives Nottingham programme (Nottingham City Council and Coca Cola GB), we’ll be providing free skateboard sessions for children (aged 8+), families and adults at King Edward Park, totally free of charge, led by trained coaches on the following dates (all on Saturdays, 11.00am-1.00pm):
- Saturday 14th April
- Saturday 12th May
- Saturday 14th July
- Saturday 28th July (Open day)
- Saturday 18th August
- Saturday 15th September
- Saturday 6th October
All abilities welcome – including if you’ve never stepped on a skateboard before, whatever your age (with 8 being the minimum age for participants for insurance reasons and UK Sport guidelines). The sessions will start promptly, so please arrive as near to 11.00am as you can (so we can allocate equipment, including skateboards and helmets, and go through essential safety instructions). We will have at least 10 full skateboard set-ups and helmets to loan. Please follow us on Facebook for updates on weather – if it is raining, or the ground is very wet, unfortunately the session will need to be postponed.
We can’t guarantee being able to accommodate too many very late arrivals, as it can disrupt sessions and take coaches away from helping and supporting people learning to skate. We’ll provide water and regular hydration breaks and have sun screen available for you to apply (or for parents/carers to apply to their children) – but please make sure you have appropriate footwear (trainers are perfect). Please don’t come with open-toed sandals, wellies, flip-flops, crocs, high-heeled shoes or wedges, football boots with studs etc. as these are all dangerous to skate in – and we’re afraid you won’t be able to take part if you’re wearing any of these without having a change of footwear.
